Little Sister Bakery has been a popular Melbourne destination since it began in 2019 as an offshoot of the wholesale business Baked for Sofia. Now, the bakery has expanded even further, opening its third location in McKinnon at the end of March this year. The McKinnon store joins the already established Little Sister Bakery stores in Elsternwick and Malvern.

Husband and wife owners Dov and Immy Lackovich Marcus have always aimed to provide warm and welcoming space that showcases the baking processes that are integral to the business.

“It’s important for us that we create a smell and a show, so every shop has the oven and the actual production in the background,” Immy told Broadsheet.

And this is also true of the new space, where the kitchen is partially visible through a white screen wall, allowing visitors a peek at the action.

The range of products Little Sister Bakery stocks are also available at the McKinnon location. A lot of the items on the menu draw inspiration from Dov and Immy’s Middle Eastern heritage, allowing the pair to represent their families’ culture and flavour.

“In terms of products, we’re trying to bring our home and Melbourne into everything that we do. Melbourne is so multicultural, and with our food everyone can sit around the table and find what they like,” Immy said.
