Krispy Kreme has launched an exciting new doughnut flavour after a week of “tese”ing its customers’ taste buds with a tantalising social media campaign.
In case you didn’t guess, the international doughnut chain’s latest collaboration features its classic fried “OG” doughnut dipped in milk-chocolate ganache, topped with malted crème and finished with crunchy Maltesers.
The announcement went down an absolute treat with Aussie dessert connoisseurs, who immediately started planning to get their hands on the new arrival.
“I think I just died and went to heaven,” wrote one fan.
“I love Maltesers and we all know how much I love Krispy Kremes.”
There were also a few complaints about the product already being sold out early in some Krispy Kreme stores, showing demand is high.
The chain’s social media manager said they were trying their best to keep up with demand, but it isn’t always possible.
“We try our best to stock more than enough at our stores but demand sometimes get out of hand with new products like these,” they said.
“We recommend getting in early to avoid disappointment!”
Krispy Kreme food technologist Tasha Kaur said the team set out “to create the ultimate chocolate doughnut”.
“After plenty of product trials and taste testing, we’re thrilled to finally share our creation with the chocolate lovers of Australia,” she said.
Mars marketing manager Nicole Villari said the collaboration “really celebrates Australia’s love for Maltesers”.
“It’s been incredible to see the flavour profile of our delicious Maltesers being transformed in a new and exciting treat experience.”
The limited edition treat launched in Krispy Kreme stores on Tuesday, March 3, and will only be available until Monday, April 27 (and from March 6 to April 2 at 7-Eleven stores).
The Malteser Doughnuts are available for $3.60 each or $28.95 for a dozen.
