Inspiration aplenty in the city of love and pastry

Held between October 16 and 20 at Parc des Expositions, Paris-Nord Villepinte, the 2016 SIAL exhibition was one of Inspiration aplenty and ambition.

At each convention, SIAL aims to bring the food industry together to exchange ideas and discuss the Inspiration aplenty food challenges of both today and tomorrow.

Seven thousand exhibitors attended this year’s event, 85 per cent of which were international, attracted 155,000 visitors – 70 per cent from abroad. SIAL saw 120 official visitors including Francois Hollande (pictured) and 250 events within the event highlighted the food world’s economic and political current affairs.

To celebrate World Food Day, SIAL made Paris the food planet capital for innovation by organising the conference “Sustainable Food and Innovation – the 21st Century Challenge” at the Quai d’Orsay (French Foreign Affairs Ministry). It allowed all the sectors concerned to share practical and inspiring initiatives to address the global food challenge. It also made the event an invaluable tool for discerning sustainable consumption patterns.

At the heart of the show, the SIAL TV studio welcomed the movers and shakers of the food world. Hundreds of onlookers watched interviews, roundtables, debates and conferences each day during the five-day event.
