Ferguson Plarre collaborates with Darren Purchese on new pie range

Bakery chain Ferguson Plarre has launched a new savoury pie range created in conjunction with celebrity chef Darren Purchese.

Launched in July, the first two pies to hit the shelves at Ferguson Plarre shelves will be a Slow Cooked Beef Cheef and Fowles Farm to Table Shiraz, and a Cauliflower, Leek and Maffra Cheddar pie.

Darren said the partnership, which highlights Victorian produce, was initiated to create a premium product that is both comforting and delicious for the colder months.

“There is nothing us Aussies love more than a good pie, and these newest releases I’ve created with the team at Ferguson Plarre are no exception,” he said.

“The Beef Cheek and Fowles Farm to Table Shiraz pie is absolutely delectable. The supple tannins and notes of spice in the Fowles wine add a rich aroma that perfectly complements the beef cheek both as an ingredient in the pie, and as a glass to enjoy on the side.

“Tastes of Victoria are abundant in these pies. The Cauliflower, Leek and Maffra Cheddar variety has an edge with the cheese creating a smooth yet salty finish. The milk is from a single herd of Holstein Friesians and embodying the richness of Gippsland’s dairy country.”

Ferguson Plarre chief executive officer Steve Plarre said it was an honour to work with Darren and other Victorian producers that are known and loved amongst the community.

“Darren has brought so many delicious ideas to the table and has been a real pioneer for this premium range,” Steve said.

“Darren’s immaculate cooking and flavour expertise, paired with our bakeries’ strong grounding in the Victorian community were the perfect combination to create a collection not to be missed this season.

“We are so excited for lovers of Ferguson Plarre to taste our newest winter warmers and get to know our partnering brands too– we couldn’t have made these mouth-watering pies without them.”
