Drive through to go: A driver ploughed their car into a Gold Coast bakery on Monday, fortunately not injuring anyone in the incident.
Staff at The Pastry Emporium in Bundall told the Gold Coast Bulletin that the impact sounded like “a bomb going off” when the 55-year-old driver smashed her white Subaru through the shop’s front window, smashing several tables through the wall into a neighbouring store.
“It was a huge fright. It’s lucky no one was sitting inside or they would have been killed,” said Paolo Grazioli, the father of owner and pastry chef Adrian Grazioli.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson told the Bulletin the woman had suffered a medical episode and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Staff at the Emporium got to work quickly on the cleanup, and are operating as normal today, thankful no one was hurt.
They posted on Instagram, “Yesterday we had an unfortunate accident with a car driving through into our shop! Thankfully No one was injured/hurt. We are open as normal!”
