Campfire snacks just got a major upgrade. The owner of the eponymous Dominque Ansel Bakery in New York City credited with the global doughnut-croissant craze has hosted a s’mores pop-up shop in Tokyo.
The warm, gooey, roasted-marshmallow-biscuit-sandwich comes in five flavours, all throwing Domique’s signature marshmallow in the spotlight.
“Using honey instead of sugar gives it a more floral flavour and a softer texture,” he says.
Dominique opened his first venture outside the US in Tokyo’s Omotesando district last June, and says the Japanese have so much love for the traditionally homemade treat, s’mores are now outselling cronuts.
