The 2018 Callebaut Sydney Royal Chocolate Show announced winners at the Sydney Royal Taste of Excellence Awards in September.
The winners were decided from the pool of Gold Medal recipients from the Sydney Royal Wine, Dairy and Food competitions.
The chocolate show awarded 13 gold medals from 129 entries. Entries were judged across 20 classes and ranged from boxed and block chocolate right through to chocolate showpieces..
Chair of Judges, Jodie Van Der Velden, highlighted the quality of entries.
“The high quality of exhibits entered reflected in the amount of medals awarded (75) compared to previous years,” she says.
“We saw some very interesting exhibits with innovative flavour combinations, finishing techniques and textural components.”2018 was the first time the judging process was opened to the public and was held in conjunction with the Smooth Festival of Chocolate.
