A Brisbane cake store has announced its closure after more than a year of brightening a popular shopping strip with its pretty pastel-pink presence, with plans to retail online-only.
Sweethearts Cupcakes opened in March 2020 on Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, quickly garnering a strong following of sweet-toothed locals for its picture-perfect decorated cupcakes.
Owner Jo announced on social media that this week (June 21) would be the shopfront’s last week, with plans to go online-only with delivery until the right retail space comes up to reopen.
“We have loved every second and customer interaction since opening our doors,” the announcement said.
“We would love to see all of your lovely faces this week.
“Thank you all for your support.”
The Paddington retail strip is notorious for its expensive rents resulting in short tenancies, and empty retail space is a common sight.
Saturday will be Sweethearts’ final day open, and Jo and Taylor will be in store to say farewell to their loyal customers.
After this, you’ll still be able to order their range of gourmet cupcakes (including flavours like vanilla bean, chocolate, red velvet, cookies and cream, apple crumble and custard, lemon meringue and more) and sugar cookies through their website.
