Michael and Pippa James have sold their much-loved Tivoli Road Bakery to Little Virtual Pty Ltd

Tivoli Road Bakery is a favourite in Melbourne, and its owners are famous for their work pioneering a local grain economy, connecting farmers and producers, and delighting customers with their innovative flavours and artisan products.

In a farewell posted on social media, Michael said, “Our goal was to be part of the community and make the best product we could from the best ingredients around us, while also engaging with the baking big community, sharing what we know as well as learning from them. We have made lifelong friends in this community.”

The couple has no immediate plans.

“We are baking big immensely proud of what we have achieved at Tivoli Road Bakery, and we are very much looking forward to some time off before we map out our next chapter,” Michael says.

“We have decided to sell the business to allow us time, after five years of being absorbed in all aspects of its running, to consider new opportunities.”

Michael says the hardest part of leaving was considering the impact on staff and customers.

“We cannot thank them enough for embracing us, and Tivoli Road Bakery, into their lives.”

Little Virtual Pty Ltd have received the recipe and supplier details for the bakery’s current product offering and intend to operate the bakery as is, including retaining current staff.

What’s next for Michael and Pippa, we’ll have to wait and see.
