What’s better than baking, having some fun with it, and raising money and awareness for a good cause at the same time? A UK actor has issued a challenge for bakers to “bake a boob” for a breast cancer charity.
Coronation Street’s Victoria Ekanoye is asking competitors to bake a cake in the shape of a boob for the Prevent Breast Cancer fundraiser.
As well as raising vital funds for the charity itself, the activity aims to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer so that sufferers can be diagnosed early.
The charity patron, whose mother battled the disease, told local news she can’t wait to see what people make.
“I can not wait to see everybody’s weird and wonderful creations – let’s put smiles on our faces and our boob cakes in the oven!”
The competition runs for three weeks, with participants and their supporting friends and family members asked to simply match the cost of their ingredients with a donation to Prevent Breast Cancer, before sharing pictures of their creations via Facebook page and the #bakeaboob2020 hashtag.
Victoria will then return as part of an international panel to judge the entries, selecting four finalists, who will then be asked to submit videos backing their entries.
These will then be subject to a public vote via Facebook, halving the finalists down to two on Thursday, July 2.
The remaining two contestants will go through to the final knockout stage, where Victoria will announce the winner via a live event hosted on the Prevent Breast Cancer Facebook page the following day.
