With the Asia Pacific region expected to become the most dynamic region for baked goods growth in the world, Hong Kong is a logical strategic base for an international bakery expo.
Set for December 4-6, 2014, the Hong Kong International Bakery Expo (HKIBE) will showcase a wide range of bakery, confectionary and pastry products, including biscuits, ice cream, chocolate and coffee, as well as equpiment, packaging, merchandising, display and storage supplies.
The show will also be home to two major events on the Asia-Pacific food calendar; the Live Cake Decorating Competition and the Coffee Olympics.
Asia’s share of global volume sales is set to increase, with the region predicted to account for as much as 14 per cent of global baked goods sales by 2017, as forecasted by Euromonitor International’s Food Industry Analyst. In monetary terms, the region’s sales are estimated to reach around $75 billion by 2017.
According to international market research company Mintel Group, China in particular is experiencing a fast growth economy, with more urban consumers preferring flavourful, healthy and convenient foods in their daily diets. Within this space, Western-style bakery products have become popular breakfast foods and snacks, resulting in rapid growth in the local bakery market.
Hong Kong is an international business, trade and financial hub. From this strategic location, HKIBE will act as a springboard for the industry to expand internationally and enter the Greater China and the fast-growing Asia Pacific region.
Last year’s event attracted an overwhelmingly positive response, with bakery professionals from 30 countries and regions attending.
This year’s event will include even more practical demonstration and workshop sessions, presented by international and local chef.
