2024 ABINSA national winners Maylee Howard and David Damour

The Australian Baking Industry National Scholarship Award (ABINSA) winners have been announced.

Maylee Howard from Porter Ave, Vic, was awarded the Sydney J Packham OAM Baking Industry Medal, and David Damour from CIT TAFE, ACT, took out the Arthur E Denison OAM Trophy.

The two were presented with their awards at the ASB Chairman’s Dinner on October 23, following a five-day tour of Melbourne with the entire group of ABINSA regional winners.

Through the tour the group were able to visit various bakeries and bakery manufacturing sites.

Both Maylee and David will now be heading of to San Francisco in 2025 to attend the San Francisco Baking Institute on a five-day course.

The Australian Baking Industry National Scholarship Awards (ABINSA) were established in 1991 by the Australian Society of Baking with the aim of providing a national competition that promotes thought, discussion, debate and action on key issues that will affect the industry.
