Adelaide-based pastry chef Zacary Antoniou has announced the immediate closure of his popular dessert store, Zacary Desserts.
Zak, who has previously appeared on reality TV show Zumbo’s Just Desserts, revealed the news on Instagram in mid-August.
“Dear friends and followers. After a lot of thought and reflection, I’ve made the decision to permanently close Zacary Desserts,” the post read.
“The past five years have been an incredible journey filled with creativity, challenges, and countless sweet moments we’ve shared together.
“I am deeply grateful to every single one of you has supported me, whether you ordered a cake, shared a kind word, recommended me to a friend, or simply followed along on this journey. You support has meant more to me than I can put into words.
“While this chapter is coming to an end, I’ll always cherish the memories, the celebrations, and the connections made through Zacary Desserts. Thank you for being part of my story.”
Zak was an amateur baker when he entered season two of Zumbo’s Just Desserts back in 2019, and he launched his business soon after. Zacary Desserts quickly established a reputation for its colourful custom cakes and pastries
The closure follows a string of bakery closures in the city in recent months. The Sugar Man also closed its doors in July, signalling the business would be moving in a new direction, while Adelaide institution Cafe de Vili’s has closed a number of stores in recent months.
