Another Cafe de Vili’s store has announced its closure in Adelaide, leaving just two locations still operating.
The Hillcrest Cafe de Vili’s made the announcement on social media in early July.
“We would like to thank you, our customers, for all of your support,” the post said.
“Vili’s Family BAkery are aware that an independently owned and operated franchisee of Cafe de Vili’s, Novotom Pty Ltd, has ceased operating the Cafe de Vili’s business at Hillcrest.
The announcement comes after the Elizabeth location ceased trading in October 2024, and only weeks after the Cafe de Vili’s at Blair Athol announced it would also close. The Blair Athol business, however, was saved after the parent company stepped in to take over from the franchisee.
Cafe de Vili’s has since released a statement saying the remaining two bakery-cafes would continue to operate as normal.
“The company-owned sites, Mile End and Blair Athol, are not affected by the closure and continue to operate, offering our great Vili’s products 24-hours-a day, seven-days-a-week,” the statement said.
“Thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait to continue to serve your favourites at Mile End and Blair Athol.”
When the Hillcrest store first opened its doors in 2023 it was Cafe de Vili’s largest store, and also boasted a 24/7 drive-through.
Cafe de Vili’s was founded by Vilmos “Vili” Milisits, who first began creating the pies the bakery was synonymous for back in 1968. The Adelaide icon was honoured with a state funeral when he passed in 2021.
