Sprinkle hope for foster kids with Fairy Bread Day

Events
Fairy Bread Day will be taking place in November

As Fairy Bread Day draws closer, get ready to sprinkle those hundreds and thousands and help raise vital funds to help children living in foster care.

Set to take place on November 24, each colourful slice of fairy bread will also help raise money for The Pyjama Foundation, who support children living in foster care.

It’s currently estimated more than 45,000 Australian are currently living in foster care, with many facing significant social and educational disadvantages. Through The Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Program volunteers are paired with children in care to help improve literacy and life skills, build confidence, and provide stable nurturing support.

The Pyjama Foundation founder and CEO Bronwyn Sheehan said that for a child in foster care, something as small as someone showing up for them every week can be life-changing.

“Fairy Bread Day is a reminder that the simplest acts can add up to hope, opportunity, and a brighter future. Even the smallest of acts tells a child, ‘you matter’,” she said.

The Australian community are encouraged to come together to make fairy bread, host a ‘Sprinkle Party’, share their creations online using #FairyBreadDay and #SprinkleKindness, and donate to The Pyjama Foundation’s programs.

Fairy Bread Day invites everyone to share the spirit of generosity by creating a simple yet nostalgic childhood treat.

Dollar Sweets managing director Miranda Higgins said Fairy Bread Day give us all the opportunity to spread joy with a classic snack, while supporting an important cause.

Throughout November, Dollar Sweets will donate 10 cents from every sale of their 100s and 1000s sprinkles to support The Pyjama Foundation, spreading sweetness while providing warmth and care to those who need it most.

The 2024 Fairy Bread Day helped to raise $35,245.80, all of which was donated directly to The Pyjama Foundation so they could bring on more children and Pyjama “Angels”.

Further information about how to get involved in the fundraise is available on the Fairy Bread Day website.
