The Wollongong Baking Show once again attracted large numbers, with more than 110 exhibitors and 450 pieces of product judged.
Baking Association of Australia executive officer Tony Smith said the show was well supported by the local community.
“There were some standout performers on the day and the show was well supported by the novelty cake section. Congratulations to everyone who entered,” Tony said.
This year’s winners are:
• Craftmans perpetual trophy: William Nicolaou, Bakers Delight, Mittagong
• Champion loaf: John Reminis, Bakehouse Delights, East Nowra
• Champion cake/pastry: Reg Kingston, Fantasy Cakes, Boambee• champion white loaf: John Reminis, Bakehouse Delights, East Nowra
• Champion wholemeal loaf: William Nicolaou, Bakers Delight, Mittagong
• Champion grain loaf: Tony Selim, Trappers Bakery, Goulburn
• Champion gourmet loaf: John Reminis, Bakehouse Delights, East Nowra
• Encouragement award (for 1st and 2nd year apprentices): Tia O’Connell, The Gumnut Patisserie, Bowral
• Most successful bread exhibitor: Dean McCudden, Bakers Delight, Nowra Mall
• Most successful cake and pastry exhibitor: Jamie Lee Cook, St Helens Park Bakery, St Helens Park.
