Inspired by the heritage of owner Tia Tan, Miilk Cake Studio will be officially opening its doors on Saturday 29 July with a Southeast Asian-inspired menu. The new store is located on Melbourne CBDβs Swanston Street and has had positive reviews since its soft opening last week.
Tia, cake enthusiast turned baker, Miilk Cake Studio is an opportunity to pay homage to her familyβs Singaporean legacy. The Tan family formerly owned Tong Ann Bakery in the regional village of Bukit Timah in Singapore, which opened in 1950.
Miilk Cake Studio will be serving Tiaβs familyβs classic Singaporean recipes alongside European stalwarts like cheesecake, red velvet, and more. Thereβs even a fusion cakeβthe Milo Dino, which marries Asian and Australian flavours with its coffee sponge cake layered with whipped Milo cream.
While Miilk specialises in cake, there are also savoury options on the menu, and the bakery will also sell a range of teas, coffees, and fruity drinks.
The bakery itself is just as chic and stylish as its offerings, with a sleek and futuristic lookβthe Tiffany blue walls are complemented by silver chrome accents and sharp white neons.
After the success of the businessβs soft opening last week, the grand opening on Friday (complete with free slices of takeaway cake) is set to be very popular with locals.
