Kenilworth Bakery officially opens doors to fourth store

The doors have opened to Kenilworh Bakery's fourth store at Samford Village

Cult favourite bakery Kenilworth Bakery has opened the doors to its fourth store in Samford Village, just north of Brisbane.

After hinting at the location on its social media channels, the bakery opened its doors in late June, marking the occasion with free doughnuts.

Speaking with The Courier Mail, Kenilworth Bakery owner Jenna Ward said the store was the culmination of a two-year search, with a location in inner city Teneriffe also almost sealed before they settled on Samford Village.

Despite the store doing a soft launch over the course of a week, Kenilworth Bakery Samford still sold more than 8000 doughnuts on the first weekend of business.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us for our grand opening and made it a huge success!” they wrote on Instagram.

The newest location joins Kenilworth Bakery’s established bakeries at Bribie Island and Mooloolaba as well as the original location in Kenilworth, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Kenilworth Bakery has established its popularity in the Queensland baking scene thanks to a combination of challenges, including their 1kg sausage rolls and jam and cream doughnuts, as well as its social media presence.

Most recently this has seen Jenna’s father, Jeff, go viral for a mock Bonds undies campaign, which saw him pose in underwear while modelling an array of Kenilworth Bakery’s baked goods.

Jenna said they had been blown away by the response to the images, which had been shared to the bakery’s Instagram page.

“It was decided that Dad was just as iconic as Robert, and after a bottle of red on Friday night Jeff agreed to strip off and showcase our snake donuts in his Bonds,” she said to The Courier Mail.

“With no chance to back out we had him in the car early Saturday morning and down to his jocks in a field beside a busy road. It was obviously quite the spectacle as cars were slowing down, one car almost went off the road.

“We were blown away by over 55,000 views within the first hour and it continued to grow with over 500,000 views in less than 8hrs. Currently sitting at 1 million views and climbing by the hour.”

The Bonds Australia team even responded, commenting that they’d have their people call Kenilworth Bakery’s people.
