Brisbane's Queen Amann bakery will be hosting Rise and Vibe later this month

The shift towards bakery-based raves continues after Brisbane’s Queen Amann Bakery announced it would be hosting Rise and Vibe – a cafe rave event.

Touted as an event of “beats, brews, and bakery eats” the only shots on offer will espresso, which will be served alongside live sets by DJs Talisha and Teeks, and a special guest experience by Ghanian-Australia sister duo Briony and Savannah Osei aka Kinder.

Presented by King Street and Good Food Events, in collaboration with AM Social, the morning rave is building on the desire for connection and entertainment without the associated late nights and alcohol that often comes hand-in-hand with clubbing.

AM Social co-owner Cameron Stallard told Good Food that the music at the alcohol-free event will be top-notch.

“People are sober. They’re there to listen to music. It can’t just be doof doof doof for hours,” he said.

“DJ Talisha is one of the best DJs in Australia and Kinder has millions of Spotify listeners, and has opened for artists like Hugel in Europe and Australia – and they’ll be performing in a bakery on King Street. It’s never been done.”

Queen Amann will be serving its full menu, including its signature kouign-amann as well as baguettes, bagels, and focaccia sandwiches.

Queen Amann owner Larry Lim said it would be the first time he has hosted an event like Rise and Vibe.

“Bakeries are already social spaces,” he told Good Food.

“Adding music just amplifies what’s already there. A cafe rave feels like a modern take on community – and we’re excited. to be part of bringing that to Brisbane.

Rise and Vibe will be held on February 28.
