On September 24, 2025, Canberran bakers will be flexing their skills at the Baking Association of Australia’s Canberra Baking Show.
Set to take place at CIT Restaurant in Woden from 9am, there will be 12 competition categories on the day, including two apprentice categories – one for first and second year apprentices, and one for open – as well as Champion Loaf of the Show and the Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show.
The 2024 competition was declared a great success, with Phil Porter from Coles Batemans Bay taking home the Champion Loaf of the Show for his Wholemeal Loaf Upright, and Shubana Sheehan from Erindale Cakery Bakery claiming the Champion Cake/Pastry of the Show for her Pastie.
The competition also forms part of the 2026 Triple Crown, which will be awarded to the bakery that can successfully take home the titles for Australia’s Best Pie, Australia’s Best Pastie, and Australia’s Best Sausage Roll. Launched in 2025 with a $5000 cash prize, the challenge unfortunately went unclaimed.
Registrations for the Canberra Baking Show are now open. Forms and more information is available on the Baking Association of Australia website.
