Apple Pies Recalled Over Glass Contamination

Australian brand Nanna’s apple pies have been recalled after it was discovered they could contain industrial-grade glass.

Nanna’s family size apple pies (600g) purchased from supermarkets with a use-by date between October 21, 2020 and October 22, 2020 have been recalled, with the company urging customers to return the product for a full refund.

The company addressed the situation on its website, indicating equipment failure from an apple supplier is to blame.

“Patties Foods has been notified by its apple supplier of the possible presence of industrial-grade glass in Nanna’s Family Apple Pie (600g) due to the supplier’s equipment failure,” the statement read.

“Upon notification, Patties Foods proactively and voluntarily withdrew the product from stores and begun an investigation.”

The recall is being regarded as a precautionary measure as glass has not been found in any products and no customer complaints or incidents have been made.
