Apple Pies Recalled Over Glass Contamination

Australian brand Nanna’s apple pies have been recalled after it was discovered they could contain industrial-grade glass.

Nanna’s family size apple pies (600g) purchased from supermarkets with a use-by date between October 21, 2020 and October 22, 2020 have been recalled, with the company urging customers to return the product for a full refund.

The company addressed the situation on its website, indicating equipment failure from an apple supplier is to blame.

β€œPatties Foods has been notified by its apple supplier of the possible presence of industrial-grade glass in Nanna’s Family Apple Pie (600g) due to the supplier’s equipment failure,” the statement read.

β€œUpon notification, Patties Foods proactively and voluntarily withdrew the product from stores and begun an investigation.”

The recall is being regarded as a precautionary measure as glass has not been found in any products and no customer complaints or incidents have been made.
