August 2 saw Western Australia’s best in the baking industry gather at the Baking Industry Employees’ Association of Western Australia (BIEAWA) gala night.
The gala night also saw the presentation of the trophies to the winners from the BIEAWA Baking Industry Awards Competition Day held in May.
BIEAWA secretary Paula Van Styn said the 2025 competition had received a record number of entries – approximately 400 – from more than 40 bakeries across the state.
In addition to the class awards, this year also saw the addition of the Karel van Styn Baking Excellence Award 2025, which was judged from all entries across the board. Miami Bakehouse took home the inaugural trophy in addition to four other gold trophies including the Apprentice Vienna Loaf White.

- BIEAWA Champion Pastry of 2025: Class 7 Gourmet Beef Pie, Jacks Bakery
- BIEAWA Champion Bread Loaf of 2025: Class 36 Sourdough White Vienna Loaf, Local Loaves Sourdough
- BIEAWA Pie of the Year 2025: Class 11 Plain Beef Pie, Four Seasons Patisserie & Bakery
- Karel van Styn Baking Excellence Award 2025: David Palmer, Miami Bakehouse
- AG Noonan Award Baking Apprentice of 2025: Bee Pitjawong, Coles Belmont
