Gold Coast welcomes Uni’s Bakehouse

Uni's Bakehouse has opened its doors on the Gold Coast

With a pastel-hued fit-out and boasting an entirely vegan menu, Uni’s Bakehouse is the latest addition to Queensland’s Gold Coast’s bakery scene.

The doors to the Surfers Paradise bakery opened in September, with the name being a nod to co-owner Winnie Ng’s Chinese name.

Winnie and her partner, Nelson, cut their teeth running Blendlove in nearby Southport, however they said the idea for Uni’s Bakehouse came about after noticing a gap in the market for a bakery that delivered big on flavour while also catering to dietary needs.

Speaking with indailyqld.com, Nelson said it was still possible to make something incredibly delicious without using butter.

The duo are letting their menu, which also includes extensive gluten-free options, speak for itself.

In the cabinets you’ll find Banana Biscoff sourdough, brownies, banana bread alongside cookies in flavours like caramel popcorn; salted peanut butter and choc; almond; and oatmeal raisin. On the savoury front there are vegan focaacia made in-house – think pesto, tomato and avocado with almond fetta or truffle mushroom. Croissants brought in from Sydney-based Oh My Days round out the offering.

Following a soft opening on September 12, Uni’s Bakehouse officially opened its doors on September 20.
