Southern Cross Baking Group (SCBG) has become a member of an international organisation that provides a platform for sharing information and promoting the reputation of baked goods around the world.
The International Union of Bakery and Bakery Products (UIBC), which was started in Budapest in the early 1930s, primarily works to support the enterprises and employees working in baked goods markets around the world. Keen to promote the image of the craft baker, the Union also works to increase the reputation of the international bakery and pâtisserie sector.
SCBG hopes its broad membership of business owners, bakers, pastry chefs and apprentices will benefit from being connected with their peers from more than 30 countries, including Brazil, Denmark, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Norway and Sweden.
The UIBC organises and promotes a large number of international trade shows, events and competitions, such as World Bread Day in October and the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie (The Bakery World Cup), as well as competitions for young bakers and apprentices.
