Australian pie retailer Pie Face has opened its first overseas store in New York, Us.

since opening on Australia day, the store has received thousands of customers, with sales exceeding all budget expectations.

Pie Face co-founder Wayne Homschek said his team has been overwhelmed with the positive response from New Yorkers.

“Never in our wildest dreams did we think that we would run out of pies on the first day, it’s been amazing,” Mr Homschek said.

Mr Homschek and partner Betty Fong are already looking at other locations around New York and hope to open another Pie Face in the Us later in the year.

since Mr Homschek and Ms Fong founded the company in 2003, 70 Pie Face stores have opened in Australia, with further stores planned nationally.
